Accounts & Profile
Sign up
Create an account with a username, email, and password. Verify your email from the link we send you — some features (messaging, booking) require a verified address.
Your profile
Your profile page (Settings → View Profile, or click your username anywhere) shows your name, home airport, bio, ratings, and personal fleet. Click your @username in the top nav to reach your dashboard; the identity card there links to your public profile.
Ratings
Add certificates/ratings (PPL, IR, CFI, CFII, MEI, etc.) from Settings. Instructor ratings (CFI/CFII/MEI) can be admin-verified — verified ratings show a green "Verified" chip.
Personal weather minimums
Set your own ceiling/visibility/wind limits in Settings. The METAR page will show a clear Go/No-Go box for any airport you look up, using your numbers.
Aircraft Registry & Your Fleet
Aircraft registry
Look up any US-registered aircraft by N-number on the Registry page — pulled from the FAA registration database.
Your personal fleet
Track aircraft you own or fly regularly on the Fleet page. This is separate from a flight school's rentable fleet — a plane can be in both if you own something a school also rents out.
METAR & weather
Look up current conditions for any airport on the Airports (METAR) page — flight category, wind, ceiling, visibility, and your personal minimums Go/No-Go if you've set them.
Logbook & Currency
Logging flights
Add flight entries by hand on the Logbook page, or use "Quick Add" to turn a completed school reservation straight into a logbook entry.
Currency tracking
Your Logbook shows live 14 CFR 61.57 day/night/instrument currency status, computed from your logged flights — not something you have to calculate yourself.
Flight review & medical
Set your last flight review date and medical expiration in Settings; the Logbook shows a clear status chip and flags it once you're inside the renewal window.
Document Wallet
Private storage
Upload photos/scans of your certificates, medical, and other documents on the Documents page. These are private to you — stored outside the public web root and served only to your own logged-in session.
Clubs & Flight Schools
Creating a school or club
Any user can create a school or club from the Clubs/Schools page and becomes its admin.
Members & roles
School admins add members by username and assign a role — Student, Instructor, Mechanic, or Admin — from Manage Members. Roles control who can manage aircraft, members, and the schedule.
Migrating from another scheduler
If you're moving off FlightCircle, Flight Schedule Pro, or a spreadsheet, use "Import From CSV" on the Manage Members / Manage Aircraft pages. Any column layout works — you match columns up on-screen. Members without a matching FlightZeit account get a placeholder account and an email invite to set their own password. In FlightCircle specifically, your roster CSV is under Manage → Reports → Users/Members/Clients/Pilots (or Reports → Downloads → User list) — export or print it as a CSV. There's no equivalent one-click CSV for their aircraft list; Manage → Aircraft → All Aircraft or the Reports → Aircraft page has what you need to copy or hand-type.
Fleet
Admins add rentable aircraft by N-number (validated against the FAA registry), with an optional nickname and wet hourly rate, and can mark an aircraft Active, Maintenance, or Grounded.
Maintenance & squawks
Track maintenance items (calendar and/or Hobbs-interval based) and squawks per aircraft. An aircraft with an overdue maintenance item or an open grounding-severity squawk is automatically blocked from new bookings.
Scheduling
Members (once added to a school) book time against an aircraft and, optionally, an instructor from the school's schedule page. The system rejects overlapping bookings for the same aircraft, instructor, or student automatically — no double-booking. Cancel anytime from "My Upcoming Reservations."
Admin & Trust/Safety
Photo moderation
All post and avatar photos pass through an admin review queue before going public.
Rating verification
Instructor ratings can be verified by an admin against provided documentation.
Questions?
FlightZeit is under active development — if something's confusing or missing, that's useful to know.
Messaging & Finding People
Search
Search for pilots, clubs, and flight schools from the Search link in the nav.
Direct messages
Message another pilot from their profile. A first message from someone you're not already a fellow member with (same school or club) lands in Requests until you accept it — this keeps your Inbox to people you actually know.
